Tisja Beav. This is a day of mourning. The destruction of the first (587 BC) and second temples (70 AC) in Jerusalem and all other disasters the Jewish peoples suffered are commemorated. Religious Jews fast and read lamentations from the Torah. On this day the use of leather shoes is prohibited as it is believed that one should not feel exalted above nature.
